GEOCHEMISTRY SOFTWARE IS FREE FOR STUDENTS
Champaign, IL – Aqueous Solutions LLC, maker of The Geochemist's Workbench® software package, announced today that it is distributing its sophisticated geochemistry software to university students around the world at no charge.
Students in first-world and developing countries now have access to some of the same tools used by leading companies in the environmental, renewable energy, oil and gas, and mining industries.
"We hope to revolutionize how students worldwide learn geochemistry, and raise the bar for academic research," says CEO Craig Bethke, noting that a diagram formerly produced by an entire class of students working together over the course of a semester can be generated by one student in seconds, with just a few clicks of a mouse.
"By letting students see the forest instead of the trees," Bethke says, "we hope they will appreciate geochemistry as the elegant and beautiful subject it is."
Full-time degree seeking students can apply for a free one-year license to the Student Edition of The Geochemist's Workbench®, or GWB, at student.GWB.com. The licenses may be renewed in subsequent years, as long as student status is maintained.
The Geochemist's Workbench®, the industry standard software for geochemical modeling, is licensed by more than 3000 locations in 64 countries around the world. Recognized for its easy-to-use interface and fully integrated graphics, as well as for its powerful and reliable computing engine, the GWB makes quick work of geochemistry tasks small and large.
The software has been adopted in fields beyond geochemistry, including engineering, chemistry, microbiology, and materials science.
Aqueous Solutions LLC develops and maintains GWB Student Edition and The Geochemist's Workbench®. The company, located in Champaign, IL, is also developing a software object called ChemPlugin™ designed to turn flow models into reactive transport simulators.
